I think SMTPE wants a non licensed standard with this feature also. There seems to a bit of a HDR format war taking place behind closed doors.

Yep. Interesting that the BBC 'compatible' UHD HDR proposals appear to be gaining some traction. NASA TV are apparently using them for their 4K UHD service.

The work on this won an IBC Technology award this year AIUI.

Since OTA 2.0 it looks like nVIDIA Shield Android TV is the best available option for 4K / HEVC 10bit playback. I understand Kodi team is still working on the HD Audio passthrough support but I don't see other hardware that comes close to it at a similar price point. I've reworded the conclusion in the first post to reflect this.

HDMI-CEC Control

SHIELD supports advanced HDMI-CEC features that further enhance your home theater experience.

HDMI-CEC Volume control sets SHIELD’s volume to the max level and enables you to control audio volume using your TV or receiver’s remotes.
HDMI-CEC also enables you to use your TV’s or audio receiver’s remote to navigate through some of the Android TV’s user interface.
HDMI-CEC’s “One Touch Play” feature enables your SHIELD to automatically turn on your audio receiver and television when you wake up your SHIELD from sleep.
HDMI-CEC “One Touch Play” can be enabled by going to “Settings -> HDMI -> HDMI CEC One Touch Play”
HDMI-CEC volume control can be enabled by going to “Settings -> System-> HDMI-CEC Volume control”

TV Overscan Correction

Older TVs typically exhibit overscan issues that cause part of the picture to be cropped along the edges of the display. While some TVs offer overscan correction within their picture adjustment options, others may not have this option.
To help users fix overscan issues on older TV sets, SHIELD includes an overscan correction tool that enables users to adjust the size of the image to fit the screen.
To access this tool, go to “Settings -> HDMI -> Adjust for Overscan”. Then follow the instructions on the screen to adjust the displayed image size.

Does anybody know if there is finally any new MINIX product that supports HDMI 2.0a or not yet?

If not is there anything similar available?

2.0a for HDR? No.
The Minix U1 is 2.0, like all AML S905

Be aware also no VP9 (required for 4K YouTube) on a AMLogic S905 like the U1, that comes with the AMLogic S908/S905M/S912.
You also get HDMI 2.0a on these new S908/S905M/S912 SoC's

Probably get a bit more activity when AMLogic S908/S905M/S912 boxes finally get released later this year. There are other manufactures on the verge of releasing more capable 4K boxes too.

On Aliexpress there are S905X boxes being sold. Anyone tried one of these with kodi (4k) and possibly with the S905 moonlight game streaming build?
