Isengard tvheadend addon do work just fine with tvh 4.0.8. Cannot speak for and don't care about the other clients. But I guess they all will not have problems with newer htsp version. Version 4.0.8 was suggested by "them" not because it is "a bit better", but because it is the current stable tvheadend version.

Beside this, there is an unstable not yet released daily changing version 4.1.x Use the stable version and you probably will be happy, use the unstable and you risk that things break badly. 4.0 vs 4.1 is indeed a huge difference! Stop mixing that. 4.0.8 is fine, 4.1.x probably not.

Well, I don't need to. All I know is tvheadend 4 did break the system, though I tried several versions. Also other clients propably will stop working because of change in protocol. Kodi's support-stop for the older htsp-protocol is extremely early and unneccesary.

Because all recording-entries got lost with up- and downgrading, I can tell the date I tested version 4.x. It was end of July 2015. Maybe somebody knows the available versions from this time.

Anyway, there is no real reason not including a switch in the addon-settings for choosing htsp-protocol. The developer just needs to include the old code. No new fancy functions, just the good old working code for activation. Please!

That's not right. VLC and even the TVHeadend client work as before.

There is a migration script for upgrading from 3.4 to 3.9 (this versions uses also the new data structure). Up after 4.0 there's no need to use that, because the migration is integrated.

Who are you to decide that it's unnecessary? Please clone the addon and modify it if you really need to keep using 3.4. It shouldn't be that hard if you're not afraid of breaking a feature here and there.

I would suggest you try upgrading again at some point. Just backup your data first.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the migrate script. I remember running that as well. There are probably some information somewhere on this forum or tvheadend's about how to use it.

@BJ1: Uhm, no, tvheadend didn't work as before. You can believe me. I have no reason to lie. I didn't test VLC though. This was an assumption, as well as movian for PS3.

However, I still want to downgrade my Kodi-version. I found this website hosting many packages for earlier kodi-versions. For some reason I can only find a kodi-bin-package, but not a kodi-package on the site. Am I missing something?

This website describes how to downgrade to 14.2 but this a bit too low for me.

Any help appreciated.

I have TVHeadend 4.1.xxx running on several machines (Kodibuntu, OpenElec, OMV). All machines works as expected - in a productive environment. Sometimes Win PC and Macs are connected via VLC to the OMV Server. No Problems.

I finally was be able to downgrade kodi back to isengard! I lost most of the settings but anyway...isengard is back.

Unfortunately pvr-hts isn't working now. Of course I downgraded the version to 2.2.13 and afterwards to 2.2.12. But both versions let kodi crash now.

This is the website
offering all previous versions.

The following packages are needed to downgrade kodi to the last isengard-version on a 64-Bit-Ubuntu-Trusty-System:

Working TV-Headend-Package for TVHeadend 3.x:

Note that the kodi-bin-package needs a cpu-specific version (here: 64-bit) and the kodi-package is the same for all architectures.
Before installation of the manually downloaded packages kodi has to be removed first. This is done with:

apt-get remove kodi kodi-bin kodi-eventclient kodi-pvr-hts

To install the .deb-packages I used the ubuntu-software-center with just double-clicking on the files in the dolphin-file-manager. At the commandline this is done with something like

dpkg -i [package-path and name]

...if I remember correctly. Better look it up on the web if this is not working. Every package has to be installed seperately in the order I listed them.

After installation finished, Kodi should start up with lost configuration. It's important to know that tvheadend doesn't loose most of it's configuration except the address for tvheadend. So in the addon-settings of hts-tvheadend (System > Settings > Add-Ons > My add-ons > PVR clients > Tvheadend HTSP Client, [context-menu / push i-key on keyboard] > Configure ) the host-address in the first line got replaced with gibberish after installation. It has to be replaced with 127.0.0.1 manually, when tvheadend is installed on the same computer as kodi.

If Jarvis updated some addons automatically before, some of them will stop to work with the downgraded kodi. In my case only four or five unimportant plugins got broken this way. Propably because most developers didn't publish a jarvis-version up to now.
