Filter genre by click just like Plex

Plex can filter genre and displaying the result by checklist
Is it possible to do this on skin level in Kodi?

I havent seen any skins that could do this..

The default confluence can already do this, also many other skins

Refer screenshot: Sub-menu under MOVIES

You can also employ a smart playlist and add a rule for specified genres if required

I'm aware of smart playlist, but that method still requires user to create a playlist with specific parameter combinations first,
unlike plex you can check the parameter you want and have the library filtered afterwards,
So it's not as user friendly as plex
e.g :

User wants to search drama + action + > year 2000 movies, he will have to create a smart playlist for that first
What if he wants to search for another criteria ?
It's still not as flexible as plex where you can simply pick drama + genre + year 2000

I can't think of workaround from skin level to create this functionality..

This would be best served as an addon, rather than at skin level.
That way it would work across different skins.
Using python to query the KODI API and pull data from the table column name:idGenre which is duplicated across TV shows and Movies

I see, where can i request addon?
Python is a little too complex for me..

I think the skin interface will also have to changed since there must be some kind of checklist

Didn't know this Ned, thanks Big Grin

It's the closest thing to the one in Plex i guess..
Seems like this only works on Movies and TVshows?
Tried this on playlist but a keyboard popped up

Btw how do i bring this to home menu?
Something like ActivateWindow(mediafilter, movies),
then it would take me to the movies / tvshow with mediafilter open.. but it doesn't work..
