Linux Kodibuntu login loop
#1
Hi all,

I downloaded the latest version Kodibuntu from the site and installed it (Kodibuntu 14.0). So far so good...but then after installing and configuring it crashes at exact the same point for 5 times in a row!

These are the steps which I took:

- Installation Kodibuntu 14.0
- update/upgrade
- Installed my Sundtek tuner
- Tvheadend

Then I have to do a restart to see the tvheadend add-on in Kodi. This add-on is active and only needs an username and passwd. The last step before completing installation is to turn on Live TV in Kodi. This disables the tvheadend pvr-client. The moment I enable the tvheadend pvr-client my system crashes and I end up in a loop. I can't login anymore and my system keeps rebooting.

Killing tvheadend and restarting lightdm does not fix this problem. Does anyone recognize this issue and have a solution for this? It kept me awake the entire night!

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

not sure what's going on on your side however we're working on our own backend to make things easier with our tuners.
I guess it will take 1-2 weeks until we'll release the first version of it.

Be sure you are using a USB 2.0 port, some USB 3.0 controllers are not well supported by linux and are able to crash Linux.

Aargh..same problem again!! But this time if i do dist-upgrade, it will only start in Kodi Desktop and here is no Kodi in the pulldown menu. Only Lubuntu and Lubuntu-netbook

If I do sudo service lightdm restart, my screen starts to flash and returns to Kodi Desktop.

How can I force to kill Kodi Deskop and return to Kodi?

Here it is...i am back at 14.10 and now there is Kodi in the pulldown menu. But as soon as I select Kodi and log in, I get the same result as mentioned above.

If I (dist-)upgrade and go to v16.1 I loose Kodi in the pulldown and the flickering goes on..

Bizarre thing is, it crashes at exactly the same moment every time.

Steps:

- clean install 14.10
- install tv tuner (sundtek)
- configure tvheadend
- install tvheadend
- and literally as soon as I start tvheadend in Kodi my system crashes and I end up in Kodi desktop.
