Hi,
I recently updated my KODI to Isengard from 14.2 Helix and after the upgrade i no longer can play MKV files..
All that happens is that it starts playing the episode the screen is green any input i give it it dose not respond..
stop, pause, shutdown. nothing. i manually have to shutdown using task manager..
My vlc player plays the video perfectly..

Any one know what could be the problem?

Please post a full debug log and post it to a pastebin like website, such as pastebin.com or xbmclogs.com. See Log file/Easy (wiki)

Go into video settings and turn off (or atleast change auto) deinnterlace. This is the video options OSD from in video, not main settings.

I really have no idea what I am talking about. Proceed with caution. I confuse easily. And drink. A lot.

I had the same problem. Only with TV shows rips though, the movies seem to be ok.

I found that if I shoved them through the new MKVMerge GUI the problem went away. Maybe it was something to do with the way Handbrake set the metadata in the file as MKVMerge wasn;t re-encoding the files, mearly tidying up the wrappers.

I might also try tweaking the deinterlace setting as noted above.

Ok, don't play an MKV file, play another container type that works, use your OSD, change what I stated, and scroll to bottom and change for ALLLLLLLLLLLLL. video. Poof.

Done.
