A more end-user friendly version eventually gets made on the wiki by Gamester17. He's already got the placeholder up on Kodi v16 (Jarvis) changelog (wiki). You can see how he puts them together here: http://kodi.wiki/view/Talk:Kodi_v16_(Jar...changelogs

Installed Jarvis Alpha 1. So far all is working well. Even all the addons from Helix and Isenguard are working well without any showing as broken. Nice work as usual team.

How far in development usually does new features get added to these Alpha builds?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Do you mean how "ready" are the features when they are added? If so, most features are functional and don't have major known issues when merged. There might be known issues that are planned to be worked on as we go, but if it's something that flat out breaks Kodi then it won't be added to a nightly/alpha/etc. Of course, there are a lot of unknown issues, due to various situations, but that's why we make builds daily and monthly :)

There's also some features that are added when it's mainly just the core functionality, but there still needs UI tweaks or something else. For example, maybe a new option is added but there's no icon for it yet. Or the text for a feature in the UI will tweaked later. Audio DSP add-ons are a good example of this. The core of those features have been added, but there might be different ways to enter the ADSP add-ons or to configure them. UI tweaks and usability that either is still being worked on, or needs feedback from users.
