Seems like an ffmpeg regression then. Can you try: ppa:xbmc-fernetmenta-master please?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Both mediainfo show 2 channel btw. Yeah some regression starting with ffmpeg 2.6, then.

Yes, having 1 channel in the file i realised was not working, was unrelated i guess as produnis's one was 2 channels and having the same problem. Unfortunately i haven't got the opportunity to test the ppa but that's an easily tackled regression, i think we can close that thread, people will get an easy solution to this reading the thread.

We want a solution so that no file needs changing...

I do understand your point, but as FernetMenta said it is working with ffmpeg 2.8 so from what I gather it's a ffmpeg bug, isn't it?

Exactly.
The entire world updating their files is a poor solution.

If the cause was something that changed in ffmpeg, then why is Kodi still using that version of ffmpeg? Why hasn't the version of ffmpeg been reverted to the last known good version?

All solved already. Just use a v16 nightly.

Are the other questions serious?
Answer: Cause mp3 is not the only format on the planet. This ffmpeg version fixes many issues with AAC, flac, Dolby Atmos decoding and so on ...

I have no idea what "Just use a v16 nightly." means, nor should I need to know. I've already rolled back to the last known good version that doesn't have the problem.
If you have a fix, then you should not be offering the broken version on your download page 6 months later.

I even tried openelec, which I assumed was an alternative, and was disappointed to find it has the same problem because it also runs Kodi.
Is there actually any alternative, or is Kodi's monopoly why you have no problem with breaking functionality for over 6 months?

Did you pay me for fixing your bug or what?

I don't owe you anything. If you are not smart enough to click on www.kodi.tv and then click on download nightly - I highly suggest using Windows Mediacenter or PowerDVD with personal 24/7 support.

I think fritsch and the kodi team fixed this issue very, very fast.
Faster than *any* commercial software company would have.
And while I really want an official release containing the fix, I think I am in no position to argue about the release schedule.

Thanks for doing a great job making kodi and a happy new year to all of you!
