Fry, you're a legend.
I followed the above, then set up an DHCP IP reservation for the Media PC in the router (as I rely on the static IP for other programs), and then changed the bridged back to DHCP.... and all is now working! I think the bridge was the issue the first time around - it was doing something weird in filtering out the internet ports only to the RPi, whilst allowing everything else through to the router.
I really am very appreciative for all your help and time - I owe you a beer or two! Thanks again!
