Statis sound/stuttery video with DTS
#1
I have a marantz pm6005 stereo amp connected via optical to a minix x8 with openelec, my marantz pm6005 apparently supports DTS decoding, movies play fine with passthrough enabled and DTS HD and TrueHD enabled but when I enable DTS I get static sound and stuttery video, does anyone know why I get problems with DTS but not DTS-HD and TrueHD? Everything works fine with passthrough disabled but I I want to try and fix this issue as I have a lot of DTS movie files.

Thanks!

No, it doesn't. It's a stereo amp with digital inputs. That doesn't mean, it is capable of any surround format. It means you can play back CDs by pushing the digital (stereo) signal to the amp. Why should a stereo-only amp support surround formats?! You should read more about your amp Wink. I guess your amp is capable of playing back stereo SACDs (super audio CD)and for this the digital inputs are needed. But this is an absolut different story.

Disable all surround formats inside Kodi audio settings and you will get fine stereo sound out of this amp. No matter what audio format is used.

If you would have googled a bit more...you might have found this one on the same forum, too:

All is explained in there Wink

And for the note...for HD-sound, you will need a HDMI connection. Optical cables (like TosLink or S/PDIF) aren't able to send HD-sound to any amp. And as your amp doesn't have any HDMI input...you see Wink...not possible
