The system was running fine, no changes, no updates and all of a sudden it reboots continuously after it starts up. Sometimes if stays up a 10 minutes sometimes it reboots right away. What is the best method of finding out what is occurring?

If there was no changes to the software or hardware, than you might have a faulty hardware.
Most likely bad fan on cpu or video card, or bad video card

I have the same problem and I am using Openelec (5.95) with kodi 15.2 as the base. It may take as long as 15 minutes for it to start rebooting, and then it will never stay up for longer than a minute. The program is not full rebooting either; it is just black screen followed by reloading the kodi program.
I tried reinstalling Openelec and got no change. I also thought it could be the Simple PVR application so I disabled TV and it did not change.
a log file for one of the events is here: xbmclogs.com/ps7yzbwga

Also to answer your original question...
Look at
dmesg logs and other system logs and program specific logs (like
Debug Log) and if its confusing to interpret them
pastebin the logs and post links in forums along with your help requests.
