I'll forward this topic to a friend of mine who's looking for a device that's support all video and audio formats.
Except interlaced material and atmos.
Not sure about 3D.
So it looks like a chrome box would be the best choice for him.
And get a RPi2 for the bedroom and children room.
Because those are connected straight to the tv.
