HEVC software configuration
#1
Hello Guys,

I've just configured a minipc with N3700 mb, 8gb of ram, and a SSD as hard drive. I've installed window 10 as OS, the problem is that when I try HEVC sample with mpc-hc i cannot able to see any video smooth despite I've configured hardware acceleration in the player, i've installed also K-lite codec mega (i've tried also with madvr, same resulsts).
The sample that i'm using are downloaded from elecard (please check the link1 http://www.elecard.com/assets/files/othe...f_qp27.265 and link2 http://www.elecard.com/assets/files/othe...f_qp27.265 for more information.
While using PowerDVD 15 the same files are played fine without configuring anything. Can you help me to set up in the correct way mpc-hc or another player?

Yeah, it's not going to happen. An Atom N3700 is not powerful enough to do HEVC software decoding and that machine lacks any HEVC hardware decoding.

What? N3700 does hevc in hw just fine. It is a braswell, which has skl's hevc decoding unit.

See the egl thread in Linux forum, please.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

n3700 can decode hevc by hardware.... the problem is setting up the software.... PowerDVD play samples very well. Probably I do not know how to set up correctly mpc-hc.

The topic says HEVC soft configuration, i'm trying to set up correctly hevc codecs for working in local and also with my nas. Isengard is just installed and ready to be tested too.

I have CLEARLY not been following the development of the Intel Atom series closely enough and I appologize for presenting incorrect information.

I have the ASRock N3700-ITX and am running Kodi v15.1 Isengard under Windows 10 64 bits.

HEVC hardware decoding did not work until I installed the latest Intel Video driver for Windows 10 ...

hello, thank you for the information, i've anstalled the latest from asrock and the drivers seem to be more updated VGA driver ver:15.40.2.64.4263 (24/08). Now i've solved in mpc-hc the problem was a setting in internal filter, i hadn't ticked all voices hevc/uhd. I've avoid to used copycat acceleration due to the fact that require more power from cpu respect native version.
Now i suppose i can concentrate my efforts to kodi Smile
