It's just like any other sideloaded app, for now it's been working fine in all current updates
Kodi updates are based on bugs and features ... Kodi doesn't auto-update if that's what you are asking

I'm new to the fire products as well as kodi, so I don't know how other side loaded apps are affected by amazon updates. That's good that it works fine after updates.

Kodi updates are not automatically pushed, but how often are there updates available for it, if you know?

I have gone through two updates on my fire tv stick since I installed Kodi 15.1 and none of the amazon updates disrupted my Kodi functionality...yet!

The future remains uncertain with future amazon updates.
