Direct play from NAS or hard Drive without tarnscoding
#1
Hi,

How do I set up Kodi so it plays files direct from a drive or NAS without transcoding?
I find that the 1080p files I play are pixelated.

I'm after playing the best quality with DTS-HDMA

Uh? There shouldn't be any transcoding in the first place. How do you have your files shared on the NAS right now?

Just stored in a file on my Seagate NAS drive.

Bear with me as I'm new to Kodi.

I set the library up and scanned it and set the files to 'movies' as I found on a youtube instructional video etc, but I've compared to the quality from kodi and from accessing the files direct from my NAS direct to my Smart TV and the quality is far superior on my Smart as appose to through Kodi.

I was assuming it was because Kodi was transcoding the file to play or am I missing something? Confused

I hope this makes sense.

Nope, shouldn't be any of that. You might link us a debug log from while you are playing a video. Maybe we can figure out what's going on. http://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Easy
