Does ember download backdrops for TV shows
and are backdrops needed by kodi or used by kodi skins?

If you use mediascout, it downloads many more images than ember
and they are named

backdrop.jpg
backdrop0.jpg
backdrop1.jpg

I just check those images and they look the same as fanart.jpg.

I think it might be used by mediabrowser, cos mediascout offers scraping option for mediabrowser as well.

I do notice it seems to download much less images than mediascout, which downloads all posters and fanarts.
whereas ember seems to only download one of each type.

Can you test with a tv show, you will see this.

Sounds like Extrafanarts for Kodi. Most Kodi skins support multiple Fanarts in Extrafanart folder to create a slideshow or show random fanarts in database.
But in Ember it's not possible to name the extrafanarts "backdrop#".
Please add a feature request if you need a special name for extrafanarts.

I tested mediascout, and turn off scraping for mediabrowser, and it no longer download images fanart with filename backdrop#.jpg.

So this file is for mediabrowser usage.

It however does download more fanart and posters than ember.


Can you please test a sample show e.g. Better call saul...
on mediascout and ember...

You will see that ember has fewer posters and fanart than mediascout.
In fact it only has one fanart and one poster.
I have enable extrafanarts but it does not seem to make any difference.
