Linux Samsung TV Serial Control
#1
I have read a number of bits and pieces about Samsung TVs EX-Link all over the place. After about a year I got it all together and working awesome.

I wrote a full how-to on my blog http://knightcinema.com/2015/09/08/samsu...onnection/

Everything from making the cable to my python script to toggling the TV with your MCE remote.

Mods: I can copy my guide here but I would much prefer to keep it on my own blog. I am constantly updating my guides and I post many of them in different forums. I dont do ads (Unless relevent to a specific guide) and I dont actively ask for donations.

I have had mine for about 3-4 years now. My previous TV was a rear projection monitor with an actual db9 port. It was easy, when there was power at the serial input the TV would be on. So the tv turned on and off when my media center went to sleep.

I don't play around too much with "hotel" mode anymore... I once soft bricked my TV playing around with commands... since then I stick to the basics. On/Off and mutes are good for me. going to reconfig to CEC soon.
Thanks again

Theres no need for hotel mode as far as I can tell. I have it factory default. Eco mode and everything. The system that processes IR processes serial as well. As long as you have the right command it should work.
