Req Simultaneous audio output on multiple devices.
#1
Hi All,

I'm a long time user of xbmc (xbox). I switched on XBMC on ubuntu with v10. And since that time, i tried everything to output SIMULTANEOUSLY stereo on HDMI and DD/DTS passthrough via SPDIF.

The best i can do is to output simultaneously but only in stereo on SPDIF and HDMI or to output on 5.1 channels using xbmc, and using alsa/pulsaudio plugin re-encode in AC3 for spdif and downmix in DPII on HDMI (i wrote an article on a forum about this).

I was full of hope when audio engine was re-written but disappointed to see that this feature, handled by any branded bluray player (HDMI+SPDIF) or oldschool DVD player (SCART+SPDIF), is still unavailable on kodi.

So please, is there a chance to see this kind of feature merged in mainline:

Please note that this feature seems to be included in next OpenELEC version, and is requested for a long time by many users.

The feature could be less intrusive:

if output device differ from passthrough device:

If format is handled by passthrough (or re-encode): forward/re-encode on passthrough device but also continue to downmix on default device device at same time.
If format is stereo: forward on both passthrough and default device.
