DLINK Sharecenter Question
#1
Hi All,

I have a quick question i'm hoping you guys can help me out with.

I have my Kodi setup with two DLINK Sharecenter's with 8tb in HDD space in total.

In one sharecenter I have 2 4tb HDD and in the other the same.

I have a backup system going to prevent a major data loss. Every night I have the hard drive copy itself to the other HDD that is in the sharecenter. Is this a good system? Or should I be having it copy from one NAS to another?

Anybody? Should I have the hdd's back up to another Sharecenter instead of a hdd on the same one?

This is really a matter of personal opinion. I'd leave it the way you have it as long as the hard drives are formatted in a way that they can be read in a PC if a sharecenter should fail. I know qnap formats to EXT4 which can be read in Linux.

So if one sharecenter were to die, your two copies are on the same device? It is a personal preference, but it is not recommended to have all your backup copies on same device. In your case it is on the same device different hard drive, but still. It would take some work to get access to the data again. Easily avoided if necessary.

It sounds as you have a redundancy solution vs an actual backup solution.
