Would you use a FREE home automation program with KODI, including voice control?

Thanks for the feedback! I've finally found some time to post the KODI module and a video on how to install it. The video below picks up from where how to videos 1 to 4 left off.

One issue I should have shown in the video is you need Premise added as a trusted site under internet explorer for all types of cover art links to show! I'm too busy to re-tape the video though.

The download link to the module is in the video description. Please share the video with folks, but do not share the download link directly as there will be no version control then (plus I want folks to actually watch the video and get interested in home automation).

Be sure to watch the new videos 7.1 through 7.3.1 in order to use your android device to control KODI and your entire home using your voice.

Every step needed is shown, including screen-casting of my Nexus 6 while I get everything working! Root is NOT required, and only a single Tasker Task is needed to control everything in your home.
Link to my YouTube Channel with videos. All download links are included in the video description as needed (except you have to buy Tasker and Autovoice in the PlayStore):

Downloads for the speech parser module is found in video 7.1's description.

So I'm sitting here bored at home and finding myself daydreaming about what I would want to voice control and what I would need. In one of your earlier videos you talk about having premise running on a HA server. Obviously it would be an always on thing. I'm also thinking of building an unraid server for my movies to use with xbmc and plex, music and photos. Can I load premise on an unraid system?

Premise runs under Windows (any version from XP on), but I don't see why it can't run on a virtual machine under Linux. As long as the VM has access to your serial ports and network card, I think it should work, but I haven't tried it and haven't used unraid yet.

Since Premise is Windows based, I use FlexRAID instead of unraid on the same machine that Premise runs. There wasn't a windows version of unraid back when I set up my server; I wouldn't expect there to be though.

I think being Windows based has it's advantages such as being able to use vbscript (very easy to learn) for complex nested home automation tasks (my SpeechParser module is written in vbscript and the source code is totally open for you guys to modify and add custom commands to).

For the Windows 10 users, I've added an option to use Cortana for voice control. It is published in the Windows Store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9nblggh67ncl

The Cortana example is under video tutorial #9 on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6fLTEm...B5VoKazC9A

So I finally built my htpc that can also play steam games on. So I can finally get around to building my media server that I will also be running premise on. For right now I'll only have it controlling my "home theater" setup.

Good morning. I just stumbled upon this thread and I'm elated! Anyhow, I'm one for using what I have. I know using my synology NAS isn't really an option so I was wondering:

1) If a Raspberry Pi running Windows would have any disadvantages (speed/response) in regard to the server.

2) I already have my kodis setup to use a SQL database and really like that it just works. Would using this add-on/setup break that? That's my only reservation to spending the hours watching and reading and then eventually helping contribute.

Thanks,

Dan

Nice. I also use this module to have Premise do stuff when I start playing a movie or audio track from Kore or YATSE (or any KODI remote control app): http://cocoontech.com/forums/topic/29658...io-tracks/

Made a small change in the code and posted version 2.2 on my youtube channel (under video 6.). KODI v17 Beta works very well for me under windows, so I have a nice all in one solution. Even have KODI decode all my HD audio and DSD audio tracks and pass them to Dirac's WASAPI driver, so my PC is also doing all of my room correction too.

If the SQL database doesn't break the remote app Kore, my module should work with it too (uses KODI's JSON-RPC protocol). Please let me know as I plan to have a common SQL database once Kodi v17 is stable.

Seems really interesting but I'm really interested in Voice Control using the Shield Remote. It's annoying having to type out. It would be more fun to just use the Remote on the Home Screen (without going into Kodi) and just saying a movies name "Robocop" and it would load a page up like it does currently but instead it says Play on Kodi or even just Play. Then you click on it and it loads up Kodi and the Movie.

Alternatively -- if you have Kodi open and just say something, it would be good if it just search the TV or Movie for you automatically. instead of going to Library or Video Addons.

Can you do any of that? I'm sure other people would be interested in this too.

I can't remember if the mic button on the remote works when KODI is open on the Shield, but if you can do a google search with KODI open then see if you can sideload tasker and autovoice under Android TV, it will work with the Shield remote.

Once you get the apps on Android TV, the Autovoice and Tasker javascript method is shown on my youtube channel will work: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6fLTEm...5VoKazC9A/

Note the autovoice creator says you need root access right now, but I think he is talking about autoinput only so it would seem autovoice may really work for you: http://forum.joaoapps.com/index.php?thre...d-tv.4443/

Also would need to do this additional step too to replace the launcher, but this guy says autovoice works so we just need someone to confirm Tasker can work on Android TV (and I'm pretty sure Tasker can if you sideload it): http://forum.joaoapps.com/index.php?thre...oice.5227/

Thanks for that. The mic works in Kodi but it just Google Search. I'll try what you said but not an expert in stuff like this.
