d3d11.dll not found Jarvis 16.0 Alpha 2
#1
I've been running Kodi under Windows Vista 64 bit (SP-1) 4 GB main memory. Everything working ok, no problems.

Windows Vista SP1 or later, and Windows Server 2008 or later uses DirectX 10.1
Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows Server 2008 SP2 together with update 971644 or 971512 installed uses DirectX 11.0

I haven't installed Windows Vista 64-bit SP2 because my previous experience with Windows Vista and SP2 is it has bog down earlier PC's that were originally bundled with Windows Vista SP1 and earlier versions of Windows. Machines built within certain years usually came with either Windows XP or Windows Vista SP1 and earlier.

Executing the latest version of Jarvis 16.0 I'm receiving an error message d3d11.dll not found.

Kodi 15.x without DirectX version 11 runs ok.

After searching the system32 directory there is a d3d10.dll .

It appears the latest version of Jarvis 16.0 isn't backward compatible to DirectX version 10?

Jarvis is DX11, previous versions were DX9. You'll have to update Windows.

Vista SP2 update may not work with this PC's hardware.

You have to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 to run Kodi 16 Jarvis.

Ok, thanks.

I can possibly install SP2 and perform a rollback if necessary.

My current hardware architecture was in final development approx. the same time Vista was first released to manufacturing.

Service packs often include security and other features that potentially compromise a PCs hardware architectures, (designed and developed under earlier versions of Windows operating systems).

Might work ok. I'll install to determine if it creates any significant slow-downs.

After installing SP2 and downloading and updating DirectX, I needed to repair Windows Update.

Jarvis, launches ok without errors. However, while trying to play a video there is sound but no video output.

I've re-installed Isengard, deslecting DirectX. Isengard is working ok, with sound and video.

Huh, is it basically that if you use Vista you won't be able to run Jarvis?
I also had this DLL error and went back to Isengard.
I had some serious issues using Windows update and it totally messed up my system.
I would prefer to not touch it and leave it but then I have to stick with Isengard right?

Please read few previous posts. You need to install Service Pack 2 for Microsoft Windows Vista. Only one limitation is there is not possibility to use hardware acceleration on Jarvis + Vista.

Just install Service Pack 2.

WU is important part for all versions of windows. It allows to receive important security updates. If you do not want to update your windows to minimal requirements then you should stay on Isengard.
