Linux Which version of tvheadend?
#1
Dear Sirs & Madams,

I recently (couple of days ago) compiled my own tvheadend version by using the steps provided on this link :

https://tvheadend.org/boards/5/topics/16...sage-16784

As i386 builds no longer seem available.

however ubuntu thinks that the version in the repository is newer then the version i compiled?

The following packages will be upgraded:
tvheadend (4.1-398~g4844b32 => 4.1.18~gec3ba93~utopic)
1 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 3 681 kB of archives.
After this operation, 520 kB disk space will be freed.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]

It does not look like it to me? or am i reading the numbers wrong? (i.e 4.1.398 is the one currently installed)

I suspect it's due to a versioning change (I can't explain, as I long since lost any understanding of the versioning!).

4.1.18 is coming to you from the unstable PPA, dated 21-May.

4.1-398 is about a week old - see "Builds" here

I suspect it's the "1.18" vs "1-398" in the above - the former is seen as later than the latter, so tries to overwrite. That said, the Builds link above refers to 4.1.398 instead, so there's room for no end of confusion to a simple person like me.

Disable the PPA and you'll be fine with your self-build version.
