I see this long standing ticket.

Any chance this can get looked at. As more and more content is coming from streaming sources it would be awesome to have this in feature in Kodi.

I am not sure how to solve the issue however perhaps handling STRM files different than other media is warranted.

I agree that this would be amazing to have implemented/fixed so that STRMs can get properly marked as watched.

about it as well. But it seems to never get any traction with the developers, unfortunately.

I'm not a programmer, otherwise I'd try to help with the coding side. I would be willing to donate if this could be implemented/fixed.
