I was thinking of switching back to the custom DVR setup, using a CETON 6 tuner card. I used to have WMC, switching to dish 2-3 years ago. WMC worked great, but i'd love to not have to rely on it, as with the lack of Win10 support, and it's eventual disappearance, i'd like to do it all via XBMC?
Is that possible, or is there nothing that will DVR shows because of copyright stuff, and only WMC can do that?

As far as I know only wmc will play shows with drm and ceton tuners.

Sure, as long as the recording is not drm'd.

Yup, as far as I know there is no 100% Kodi DVR solution. All require some sort of backend to do the scheduling/recording. In addition, none are able to present DRM media to Kodi. Kodi cannot even play WMC DRM recordings. This makes me nervous as it seems cable companies are moving towards marking more and more content as DRM. I worry I'll wake up one day to all my channels being DRM :-( But until then, I'm happy with WMC, ServerWMC, and Kodi!

The question is, are your channels flagged copy-once or copy-freely? If it's the latter, then WMC/Kodi is an option. Otherwise, native WMC is the only option.
