Is there any way to get the fanart that is downloaded from plexbmc to be used on the home screen for movies and TV shows? I'm using a nexus player so my userdata folder is not accessible from the background selection.

You can choose background (or multiple) for each section (Movies, TVShows etc...) in the skin settings.

I am trying to just use the default backgrounds provided with the skin for each category, but cannot find a way to do this. I am only getting the amber "bubble" for everything. How can I change them to show the individual backgrounds?

Right now, the only background I can seem to have show for all categories in main GUI is only the amber bubbles one. In skin settings under backgrounds, I see the others (AddOns, Music, Movies, etc) but I don't see how to select & save each one so that they will come up when I sort thru on the main GUI. I don't want to add customs ones, only use the ones provided w/ the skin.
In other words, I see this for every screen:

What do you have in the folder "AppData/Roaming/Kodi/addons/skin.amber/backgrounds" ?

No, I want the different backgrounds for each section, not to be all the same one. Since they are viewable in the skin setting, I am not seeing where to save them so they can show when I go back to main screens

Uninstall and reinstall manually from https://github.com/jester-xbmc/skin.amber

I finally figured it out - you have to select the background for each view , then hit the default button to the right. Probably would make it clearer if that button was labeled "apply"
