I made a few more tests with Gecko trying to determinate if the Autoframe is really working.

Ive seen some videos on the web claiming the 23.976 video clock is fix, but my tests saying otherwise..

The Oppo103D has 2 HDMI inputs, i connect the Gecko to one of does inputs and run some test files (FPS.MKV , Motion Bars.M2TS , N.AVI Test files, Pendulum test )
I also run the tests with the HDMI at "normal way"

Menu resolution was set to 1080p 50hz
Update: test made with 1080p 60hz and got same results except 50hz plays at 60hz

720p files always Plays at 1080p - FAIL
23.976 plays at 24hz.......investigating
24.000 plays at 24hz OK
25.000 plays at 50.000 FAIL 2:2 pulldown
29.940 plays at 60.000hz.......... investigating
30.000 plays ar 60.000hz.....FAIL 2:2 pulldown
50.000 plays at 50.000hz OK
59.94 plays at 50hz FAIL (AVI file test)
59.94 plays at 60hz......... investigating
59.94 plays at 60hz MKV FAIL
60.000 plays at 60hz OK

The Oppo can show the detailed framerate 23,976, 29,97, 59,94 by Physical disc, streaming, external Hardrive...

ps: Other users can check the Open Hour Gecko video clock with video processor (Radiance Mini 3D) Epson projector, some Oscilloscope or monitor capable of showing the detailed framerate of the source.

Excellent tests couto. I'm not impressed with what you're finding though, as HiMedia has addressed several of the issues you bring up in M3/Q5/Q10 (same chips as Gecko). If you plan on getting HiMedia, I'd love to have you added to the testing group with them.

If read in other thread that you have a epson 5025UB, I've check the manual and like the others epsons is visible the detailed refresh rate, and you can check the 23.976 Bug in Himedia or other players using the INFO...

I update the first post, the Oppo technical support confirmed me that the Oppo 103D shows the detailed framerate using the HDMI inputs.

This means the Open Hour gecko video clock still plays the 23.976 files in 24hz.....

Happy to see other users to perform more tests about this matter.

You watch the number that appears on the Oppo or movie on the screen?
By example The media player Realtek eg display a framerate 23,987 not 23,976 but the video is played without jerking because it works differently in the restitution of the video and sound encoded actual 48Hz.

Test Judder Gecko 23.976-29.970-59.940fps
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIOyyglp-Ms
or here with pendulum test
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTa1Gdtw_TI

Information 9.33 fps on screen Kodi is impossible but we have no judder

Another problem is that you do your framerate sync tests with a resolution set at 1080p50hz then you need to fix in maximum 1080p60 resolution.
Your results are not correct

Please refer to my test video on it is perfectly clear

Modern TVs are very good hiding judder, the case is not if someone see issues or not, the case is if media player plays at correct framerate...

Your TV show 24hz... you can't be sure using this method

Again doesnt prove anything, your TV don't has detailed framerate.
Your tests are encoded in MP4, my files test are M2TS, AVI and MKV

Don't really understand what 9.33fps has to do with the case, and besides i cant get that information in Kodi, my Kodi version has not details about whats playing or any other information about the video.

Thats a funny one Huh
why i can't to have the resolution i want in the screen ? does the chip or framerate sync only works in 60hz ? does kodi only works in 60hz ?
Anyway im gone test with 1080p 60hz and post the results...

The TruMotion for judder can only multiplies frames but can not smooth a bad framerate at the entrance.
If you read an encoded video with 23.976 output 24p even with treatment with trumotion you will have judder or drop frame.

Like many TV information framerate does cannot display commas so do not rely on this

Anyway i made the test with Menu 1080p 60hz (test files avi, m2ts, mkv, pendulum

Native player - Same results, the video don't even trigger the resolution.

Kodi - Same results, except the fact that now 1080p 50hz plays in 60hz...

Doesnt care about Trumotion in my system, because i use it OFF on the LG.
In the past my old samsung had a nice Truemotion implemented, and the 24hz bug never exist for the untrained eyes..

Should i trust my eyes or or the seller eyes right ? Huh

Theres plenty of consumer devices that can show the Commas correctly,

Panasonic VT30
Radiance Mini 3D
Epson projectors
Iscan Duo (video processor)

Pro Hardware:
Quantum 980 HDMI 2.0 Protocol analyser
Zybo Zynq 7000 FPGA board
Tek 2712 spectrumanalyzer

It really is pretty easy to pick up an extra video frame being displayed when 23.976fps video is played and output at 24Hz.

Start playback and a stopwatch and around every 42 second time period there will be a video glitch.
Opening video panning sequences in Tron Legacy show this sort of glitch in plain sight.

Received my Gecko. I will start running some test tonight to see if my results match your results.

I think the tests should be more scientific, with Hardware.

Kodi or the Native Player are reporting 23.976hz Files playing at 24.04hz
Looks like enough buggy to me.

Use keyboard and change from Hiplayer to DVDplayer them use Y then press O and the information will show up
And in my opinion, theres no reason for the information not being available using the Hiplayer.

Are they trying to hide something ?

Hiplayer in Kodi is the default player not DVDPlayer

Why do you use the Player DVDPlayer who has not the right framerate ?
If you use the DVDPlayer fail you will have movie with jerky or drop Frame

This is nonsens Rolleyes
