Moving videos around within Kodi
#1
Ok, so I have this extra folder called "New" on my harddrive where I put all my newly downloaded movies in and after watching them, I decide which to keep and which to delete. Is there a way within Kodi to move the files/movies to their respective genre folders on my drive? Currently I have to close Kodi and then within Windows have to go to the folder and cut and paste.

A short answer is no.

You will need to have a folder hierarchy manually created of your own design. Genre within Kodi is made by the information that is used from your scrapers. The content is either movies, tv, or music.

A simple way to organize is to have a parent folder such as movies, and sub folders with the movie name.

In your case a simple solution may be to have content set on your new folder (e.g movies) and have a "keeper" source set to the same. Simply move what you want to keep to the "keeper" directory, and rescan. But to be honest, that is adding a step. Simply have a single hierarchy for each content type, and if you don't want to keep it, just delete

You really don't need to close Kodi, you may simply delete as you wish, and clean your library manually or set up a scan within Kodi, or utilizing addons such as watchdog to update your library after changes.
I really have no idea what I am talking about. Proceed with caution. I confuse easily. And drink. A lot.

You can use the file manager to manually move them around:
