I'm testing Kodi 15.2 using the pvr.wmc client. On enabling live TV I have 3 channel groups defined (I assume by the backend). When I add a new channel group via Kodi DialogPVRGroupManager it is not being saved to TV29.db. the new channel group is available for that session of Kodi but doesn't persist on a restart (since not in the db). I tested with the settings "synchronize channel groups with backend on and off with no difference.
Doing the same steps in Kodi 14.2 the new channel group is saved to TV26.db as expected.
Doesn't work in Kodi 16 1028 nightly either.
Could someone confirm?

I never tried Channel Groups until 15.2 but I have the same symptoms that are described in the post.

I'm not a pvr.wmc user (I'm on pvr.mythtv), but at least when using pvr.mythtv channel groups are synchonized with the backend each time kodi's PVR management starts.
I think this means any edits you do to channel groups on kodi are likely to get replaced with those defined in your wmc backend when you restart.
There is an option under Settings->TV->General called 'Synchronise channel groups with backend(s)'.
Try playing with this to see if it helps.

There is a PR:8439 that should fix this. Guessing it will be merged in before the next Jarvis Beta drops.

You need Kodi 16 (Jarvis) which currently is in Beta.

It is working for me (jarvis 1210 nightly). Didn't punish test it, but now when I create a new group from the UI it is saved in the db and is available after a restart. Tested both TV and Radio. (Would be nice if Kodi remembered what group is in use and restore it after a restart but I guess that would have to be an improvement).
Note: It would be nice if it was possible to set IsRadio from within the pvrgroupmanager dialog as a toggle, also if an IsRadio property could be set so skinners could make it clear in the header if the group manager dialog was in Tv or radio mode.
