Apparently it's not possible to change the OSD timeout so that the progress bar etc. will not stay on the screen for too long (it takes about 10 seconds in Kodi 15.2 for it to disappear after starting a video file).
I'm asking the devs to consider making it customizable, the information it shows is good but in some skins (for example Aeon MQ), the OSD means that the actual video is dimmed in the background. For movies, TV episodes etc. that "start right from the beginning" without any studio logos etc., it's a nuisance.
