I used ember media manager to download artwork and rename some of the movies.
However, when I now scroll through the movie list on XBMC, it is slow to load the background art.
Is there anything I can do to speed this up a bit or cache it?

Make sure you have a fast microsd card or there will be lag. Use a samsung evo or pro cards. No issues loading fanart then.

It's loading off an external hard drive (7400 rpm),
It's only since adding ember mm fanart that it happened. the artwork loaded by xbmc itself worked fine before
