v16 Audio cuts out and requires restart to restore.
#1
Question
Debug Log: See post #4 for current log.

Having a weird issue where the audio will simply cut out and never come back. This happens mainly with live TV, but i have also had it happen with internet streams as well. The video will keep playing normally, just with no audio. When this happens, no other program can playback audio. Not getting any stuttering or weird glitches, the audio just simply drops and never returns, locking up the audio card in the process.

Here is a clip from the log near the start of the problem:

I've tried to search and tinker with this now for over 3 weeks with no resolution. It only happens with Kodi. I can playback Netflix and Youtube in chrome endlessly without issues. I'm hoping someone here may have come across this issue before, knows a trick to fix it or can get me pointed in the right direction to resolving it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Did you try selecting the correct audio device which should be "SAM SAMSUNG on HDMI" in your case?

Yes, in fact i even setup an asound.conf file to default all audio to that device, in case it was a card issue. No luck there. Didn't matter which setting was used, default with asound.conf or the Samsung HDMI directly, the audio will exhibit the same problem. It's an odd behavior because the audio will cut out seemingly randomly and stay gone until i restart, but video playback isn't affected at all.

I've also tried restricting the output to a fixed 48kHz, because i know older XBMC versions had issues with that setting and HDMI audio playback.

Bumping thread, this problem has not been resolved and i cannot seem to figure it out. Any help is appreciated, including ideas or suggestions on where and what to look at.

New debug log from Kodi 16 Beta 5: Log Here (pastebin.com)

Playback of live TV channel starts at 18:42:13 T:140420347517120.

Getting repeating errors like this:
Code:
18:49:16 T:140417303570176   ERROR: CDVDAudio::AddPacketsRenderer - timeout adding data to renderer
18:49:16 T:140417303570176   DEBUG: CDVDPlayerAudio::HandleSyncError - average error -3832298.039291 above threshold of 100000.000000
18:49:16 T:140417303570176  NOTICE: CDVDPlayerAudio::OutputPacket skipping a packets of duration 32
18:49:16 T:140419216156416  NOTICE: Previous line repeats 79 times.

Why is Kodi skipping packets? This error repeats like crazy and is visible at the end of the log. There are no issues with video, the audio simply stops while the video continues on like nothing happened. The whole audio subsystem stops working when this happens. No other applications or programs cause this issue.

As the issue is fully not obvious, can you please reproduce with OpenELEC from an USB stick?

Use one of the Milhouse builds you find in the sticky topic of this thread, please. Flash the img.gz after unpacking to usb stick and see if you get the very same issue. I suspect a driver / kernel issue or something but we will see.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Just spotted this thread as I am seeing a similar issue when using an .edl file to skip the commercials in a recording. I have the files still so could provide them if it helps for a debug attempt?

Any more info on this? I'm on a Raspberry Pi and can only get audio for 10-12 hours before it cuts out and needs a reboot. My files are all encoded the same (h.264/aac) but with different framerates (24/25/30). I haven't seen any pattern as to why it stops working except time. In case it helps here's the part of the log where the problem starts:

Please don't cut logfiles! This is sadly not a Debug Log.

Btw. are you sure that your Display is really 720x480 @ 60i? Looks like HDMI offline.

My full log is too big for pastebin, but here's the beginning up to the part where the problem starts repeating, which is the bulk of the log:

I'm not sure if I enabled the debug log correctly, do I have to see the text overlay in the GUI?
