mplayer video feed on top of Kodi
#1
So I want to make reverse camera feed display inside kodi. I have tested the camera feed with mplayer and it works. So how I can make video feed appear on top of the kodi?

I just want to minimize kodi and start video feed with mplayer, can somebody explain to me how to do it?

I suppose I will need to make some sort of plugin, like radio plugin?

I tried something, but I dont know the basics. Undecided

Why don't you start the video feed in kodi itself? Kodi is a video player and supports mjpegs, no need to use a external player. What is the format of the video you're trying to play?

Video grabber sends video to /dev/video0 file, and this as far as I know it can be played only by mplayer.
The second thing is that I want this stram to be real time, so less players I need faster the stream will be.

I know that the stream works I only need a way to minimise kodi and to show mplayer on top.

But if you have another better way of doint this, please tell me.
Thank you.

Configure mplayer as an external player in Kodi.

Depending on the operating system (I suppose it is linux) I would rather call ffmpeg and pipe the video to kodi

@enen92: Yes, OS is Linux Raspbian. Do you think this will add delay to stream?

And can you explain a little bit more how to pipe the video?

Thank you!
