Howdy
Running kodi w/ openelec on ASUS Chromebox. Using HDMI cable from Chromebox to my Okyno TX-SR313. It is an older Okyno 5.1 HDMI receiver.
Kodi definitely sees the receiver as it is listed in the audio advance settings. No matter the audio config there is no sound.
Anyone else run into this if so what was the solution?
thanks

Onkyo bug - return it ...
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Have you got the PC connected to HDMI input 1 (aka DVD)? On early Onkyo amps this was the only input that reliably worked with my PC's audio output. (This amp also had to have a new HDMI input card after a few years. And had a bug that caused it to buzz with Audyssey and a PS3, that there was a free Onkyo fix for...)
(Also very early HDMI amps often only supported PCM 5.1 audio - not HD Audio. Not sure about Onkyo, but our first Sony HDMI amp would only accept 5.1 PCM, no DTS HD or True HD. Our PS3 did the HD Audio decoding to PCM back then)

Without kidding: Upcoming kernel 4.4 should fix some outstanding audio issues with Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon AVRs ...

I am somewhat certain this is local to Onkyo and not Kodi. I will play around with it more today, pull a log file. Also put in a call to Onkyo support to see if they have a work around. I doubt I am the first person to get frustrated with ChromeBox to Onkyo. I did read somewhere that Asus ChromeBox did not support 5.1 sound which may be the issue or it may not. I have an older Philips LCD which had no issue with HDMI vid/sound from this ChromeBox. Why I think this is local to the Onkyo receiver. This receiver is a few years old and it maybe time to replace it but if I can avoid that all the better.
I have the PC connected to the Onkyo Input 1. Kodi has recognized that it is an Onkyo receiver. I do recall when I set up this receiver originally there was some cluegy setup by device Onkyo made you go thru.
For those of us that have owned Onkyo we have all experienced some level of frustration with our new receivers out of the box.

FIXED. Was 100% Onkyo.
You have to manually select the HDMI input you want on the front of the receiver with the buttons. Select the channel you have added the ChromeBox to.
In my case it was the HDMI port for GAME.
1. BD/DVD
2. VCR/DVR
3. CBL/SAT
4. GAME
I pushed the GAME button on the front, then select SETUP then HDMI port 1-4. In my case GAME was defaulted to HDMI Port #1
Then I went to the KODI interface and selected HDMI 0(ZERO) which was already populated with my Okyno Receiver type. After I did this manual setup it worked.
I did this same thing with the remote control MENU first but for whatever reason it would not work.
Anyway problem wasn't really a problem just a setup issue.
