HEVC hardware

I am going to join in the testing of the OpenELEC Jarvis builds.

I've currently got the official Isenguard build installed, can I use your build to simply update that or do I need to do a fresh install?

This is my system. Is this build likely to run well for 2160p content?

Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-H87N-Wifi

Processor
Intel Core i3-4130T 2x2.9Ghz

Graphic card
Intel HD Graphics 4400 (onboard)

RAM
4 Gb DDR3-1600 (1x4Gb)

If it's h264 ... yes ... if it's HEVC _not_ on your hardware ...
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

What do I need to change to make that work?

Would a change in processor work or would I need a graphics card perhaps?

Nothing - your hardware has no HEVC decoder.

If you want hevc-10 bit: There is no intel hw solution for intel as of now.
If you want hevc-8bit: Braswell or Skylake is an option

Is there not a graphics card I can add to make it possible?

I do have an Amlogic M8, perhaps I would have more luck making that work...

-> Ask in the hw forum ... not topic of this thread. In Linux world - simply no 10 bit hevc hw decoding exists for now.

You will have no luck at all with the AMLogic S802 in the M8. No HEVC decoding at all
Its the S812-H that does 8-bit 4K/2K/1080p HEVC, and this works well especially with the correctly modified AMLogic / Linux Kernel. The cheap 1080p HEVC capable S805 as well.

Not in Linux, but in Windows, yes. The GeForce GTX 960 and 950 have a HW HEVC decoder capable of 10-bit decoding (in Windows).

Kodi is still WIP for hevc 10 bit via dxva2: https://github.com/afedchin/xbmc/commits/dxva_hevc_10b

DSplayer with LAV will work for 10-bit HEVC DXVA2 as far as I understand it.

8 or 10 bit?
All the AMLogic S8XX SoC's are 8-bit, as already stated.
Its the S9XX series that are 10-bit which also bring HDMI 2.0 + HDCP 2.2
