Intel Nuc, Denon x1000, sound skipping/dropping
#1
Hi guys, I'll also post this in the openelec forum as well. I've set up a system for my mother who is in india which consists of a Intel nuc with openelec 5 and a Denon receiver x1000. The Denon is connected to 5.1 speakers.

The problem is that for the past two months, any time she tries to play a video file, either locally from the hard drive or a YouTube video, the audio starts dropping. The receiver shows lpcm on and off and the sounds goes on and off accordingly. The video plays through with no problem, you wouldn't know there is a problem if you were watching it muted.

The problem is that I'm in the uk right now and so I'm doing remote tech support. I've tried both pass through with all the options selected since the receiver can handle it all as well as turning off pass through audio. The channels are set at 2.0.

Any idea as to what the issue is? I'm trying to figure out if it's kodi or openelec. Thanks for any help.

Nope ... a Debug Log will tell (probably) ...

Please ask in OpenELEC channel - you use their "old stable" version which has no support anymore.

I did ask over in the openelec forums, haven't really gotten anywhere with it. I'm going to start fresh with kodibuntu. Gives the benefit of being a clean install plus I think the help community is a lot bigger?

Sadly I also cannot suggest kodibuntu - as it comes by default with a very outdated kernel / vaapi. You are better of with installing e.g. lubuntu 15.10 then removing pulseaudio and adding the kodi ppa.

I'd like to stick either between kodibuntu or openelec. Reason being, I'm doing remote tech support for my mom. This in itself will take an hour or so at least to get done. If you had to pick between the two, which one would you pick?

I don't have to pick - I do it right one time and then I don't have to maintain anything :-)

Ah a Baytrail.

Watch the video - click the "film role icon". Choose: Deinterlace Auto Deinterlace-Method: VAAPI-BOB Scaling: Bilinear and save for all files.

Upgrade to: http://fritsch.fruehberger.net/openelec/...ritsch.tar
Disable passthrough audio. Enable Sync Playback to Display.

If colors are too bright, change kodi's internal "Use Limited Range" setting.
