Hi all running the msql db on a synology 3615 and that is running fine.
The problem is that kodi isn't creating a db locally and not on my mysldb as well because it cant create one to export on the local machines.
I have this problem on my win laptop as well on my intell nuc running openelec.
I can search by filr browser but not possible to create a db anywhere.

This all on my local machine.
What is going wrong here?
I could see in the log that it's loading the advancedsetting.xml file as it should do so it can connect to the mysql on my syno i think?
Any help aprreciated

Maybe we can compare notes and see if we've neglected to do something. Have a look at my post and let me know if it looks right to you?

I also noticed that it doesn't scrape anything on the machines.
When i set content on the folders if it is the music folder or movies or tvshows folder noting happens Huh

?
As far as i know it should add/find the stuf and see some kind of progress bar on right side top tha it's scanning the folders?
But that doesn't happen.
tried to reinstall several times a clean install.
There is no db is the msql server at all atm.
Plese help?

Have you considered running Kodi directly on the NAS, and setting it to share its DB via UPnP? I'm thinking of doing exactly that. Check my post here for other thoughts...

So your username/password combo isn't valid.

MySQL caches users and passwords so it's necessary to run:

FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

After creating the account.

Hoping someone can help me with a very similar problem.

I'm using a Qnap TS653 pro that I received for Christmas (which handily already has Kodi installed) to store all my media and I'm using MYSQL along side phpmyadmin to create the databases on the Qnap also.

These are the steps I have followed:

1) set up the database using the following -
CREATE USER 'kodi' IDENTIFIED BY 'kodi';
GRANT ALL ON *.* TO 'kodi';
flush privileges;

This creates the databases myvideos93 and mymusic52.

2) I've set up my advancesettings.xml, on my desktop (which I want to be the 'master' if you like) which reads:

3) Add movies and scrape artwork using local sources only (all my media is scraped outside of kodi, using ember)

So I can see that on Running kodi on my desktop it creates the thumbnails folder in the right place, and it creates entries in the movie database.

However, when I then copy the advancedsettings.xml to the Qnap and run Kodi, it seems unable to access the database:

If anyone can help, it would be really appreciated, this problem has seen me pulling what little hair I have left out since yesterday.
