v16 Android pass-through test thread. EXPERIMENTAL!!!
#31
I did scroll down.
These two options are not there.

When starting the app, it shows the Jarvis beta logo - so I assume the installation went right?
#32
Here are my results with Amazon FTV 2 (5.0.3.1 Firmware) and Denon AVR-X1200W Receiver:

DD 5.1 -> works
DD+ 5.1 -> outputs as DD
TruHD 5.1 -> outputs as PCM 2.0
TruHD 7.1 -> PCM 2.0

DTS 5.1 -> white noise
DTS HD MA -> white noise

Looks like it only fixed DD 5.1 :-(

Is the file you loaded called kodi-20151221-87db433-adddroidPT-armeabi-v7a.apk?

TV's tend to have issues with passthrough, best to use a dedicated streaming box.

Probably a FTV limitation as I'm sure it doesn't support HD audio with 5.1 or so many people have issues according to a quick google.

Actually I tried it with the other file, 1 hour earlier.
Will try the new one tonight.

That is exactly what I am trying to avoid, as it has been driving my family crazy for the last 12 months with my samsung TV.
They want it easy to use and ready to go.
That´s why I retired my 60" Samsung LED (after only 11 months) and bought a Sony Android TV.

Bad choice. Better kept the Samsung and used a separate box.

People have issues with Kodi and Passtrough on the FTV2. But only with new AV Receivers.
I can´t tell if the FTV has hardware limitations in terms of playing HD audio. But it should work at least with DTS, since my old Onkyo plays fine with passtrough activated.

I spoke too soon. Local playback via PleXBMC addon works flawlessly via passthrough. Remote server playback (even though there is enough bandwidth to stream without buffering) does not. The video is approx 0.3 seconds behind of the audio. If I disable passthrough and it decodes as PCM 5.1, it works fine and no audio / video lag. Sad

This is awesome. Only tried DTS-HD MA but working flawlessly for me. On Nvidia Sheild TV & Onkyo NR525

Update:
Tried new update from 21st dec. At least i get now pcm sound with passthrough off.

DTS, (normal and HD) ->white noise
DD 5.1 - perfekt
DD+ -> output as DD

Now the strange thing:
TruHD(no matter passtrough on or off)-> 7.1 PCM, but channels are mixed.
Same happens with all other files with deactivated passtrough. I get multi ch pcm but center = left surround, right surround=center, left surround and lfe= nothing (only 5.1 connected)

You could at least mention what platform / AVR you are using...

Hi,

Thank you very much for this gift, it works perfectly but I have a problem when i activate passtrough with my TV channel ( tvheadend HTSP client 2.2.10).

The same as :

(2015-12-21, 08:35)ashleyw Wrote: just loaded it on my shield TV. As soon as pass through is enabled, then any live TV channels with Dolby digital audio tracks on (using dvblink PVR backend) end up stuttering after about 2 seconds and repeating.
As soon as I disable pass through then things work as expected (except no pass through obviously).
Also after pass through on live TV and then go to menu items, there is corruption on the text of the menu items.
Been on Kodi 16 nightlies up to now - and pass-through had to be disabled as I was getting random white noise switching live TV channels with Dolby Digital tracks and standard Stereo tracks.

FTV 2 + Denon avr-x1200w

FTV(2) is an unknown. FireOS 5 is supposed to be based upon lollipop, so should support AC3/EAC3 passthrough only.
But hey, they don't even let normal apps to use 4K, so maybe it's the same for EAC3 Wink
