OpenELEC Synology Constantly Buffering
#1
Heya fellow Kodi users,

I currently have OpenElec installed on my HTPC which loads the movies (LAN) from my Synology. However, when streaming most (high quality) movies it keeps buffering, then it plays for a couple seconds/minutes and then buffers again. The HTPC loads recevies internet connection by a LAN Cable which goes through a wall plug which to the router (max 500mb/s).

I've read the 'Read this before posting' thread! (Although, sorry if it is the wrong section, I wasn't sure where to post this thread).

Debug log; http://xbmclogs.com/p7w1lm1ax
OpenELEC version; 5.0.8
Synology version; DSM 5.2-5644 Update 1 (Latest)
Connection type; NFS

I really hope that someone can help me out so that I can enjoy my movies!
Thanks in advance

Copy a full movie to your OE instance and check throughput.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Constantly buggering. Yeah, that would describe most playback problems! Smile

Also seems like a stone age GPU:

Quote:23:09:43 T:140532524734336 NOTICE: GL_RENDERER = Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV710

So no hardware decoding for you:

http://kodi.wiki/view/Supported_hardware#Desktop

If I understand those line correcty:
Quote:23:09:58 T:140531237832448 NOTICE: CDVDVideoCodecFFmpeg::GetFormat - Creating VDPAU(1920x800)
23:09:58 T:140532524734336 DEBUG: ------ Window Deinit (DialogBusy.xml) ------
23:09:58 T:140531237832448 NOTICE: (VDPAU) screenWidth:1920 vidWidth:1920 surfaceWidth:1920
23:09:58 T:140531237832448 NOTICE: (VDPAU) screenHeight:800 vidHeight:800 surfaceHeight:800

I guess VDPAU is in use. I would also try to disable it. And then, of course, check what fritsch said. The CPU should do it, but not if you have network problems.

Thamk you for your help, howecer, sorry to ask, how to disable VDPAU, I can't find a decent tutorial which details how to disable it.

Go to Settings
Go to Videos
Go to Acceleration

There you can change how your system will decode videos
