Have tried to get airplay to work on my NUC with Ubuntu 15.10 and Kodi 15.2.
using an iphone with 7 firmware.
Iphone failed to recognise Kodi,thought it must be a router problem , so tried fiddling with different settings . All to no avail
Then decided to try Kodi on an Android machine, using same network, connected with no problems..
Any suggestions for settings/ software for Ubuntu, so that Kodi will work.

I think best you update to Kodi 16 beta where they reworked the Airplay system to support for latest iOS versions.
But it is important to know that it only supports audio since video and pictures support are broken and will not work anymore.

With the Android Kodi 15.2 I get all three.
Would prefer to use the NUC and Ubuntu for Airplay. Could it be a NUC problem?

Yes, with the 7 firmware.My wife has an iphone with 9 which doesn't work
