Kodi frozen at splash screen after update
#1
Sad
Hello,

I have Kodi/OSMC on raspberry pi 2 and been very satisfied with it. Even the automagic system updates worked fine ..

.. until yesterday. I did a system update and now I can't get past the osmc splash screen! No ssh connection, nothing! Completely frozen.

I removed the sd card, wiped out /home/osmc/.kodi/addons, but it did not help.

From the sd card I can extract some log files .. like this:

/var/log/dpkg.log

Most of the standard linux log files are empty btw ..

Well, I guess I will be reinstalling kodi today from an image. Before that, any hints appreciated ..

At least I learned a lesson .. never do an updated on a working kodi system! Wink

This is an OSMC distribution question, rather than a Kodi question. Try asking on OSMC forum.

OSMC forum Confused..... A many lot of users has ask same question whit similar problems.....

*EDIT*
Apparently the problems it's resolved.... i know now the last recent OSMC build it's not working to ALL sd.. it's time to change to a kodi distribution like openelec...

This issue will soon affect OpenELEC too, unless the SDHost driver improves (which I've no doubt it will)

The Raspberry Pi foundation moved to their new SD card driver, SD Host. As OSMC is the first major distribution to adopt this new driver, we are the first to find some issues. Milhouse builds have been using SDHost, but it's possible no one has tested a build with an affected card yet.

We're making a note of affected cards to help the Foundation improve the driver and we have provided some clear, simple instructions for how to revert to the old driver and get your system booting again.
