A lot of times, particularly when I use scripts, xbmc stops working. I wouldn't say freezing because you can still use IGR with the gamepad (and since xbmc is my dash, IGR gets back to xbmc). But that's where the "problem" kicks in. I normally navigate xbmc with my remote, and when it "hangs" like that, there's no button on the remote that represents the IGR feature, so I have to pick up the gamepad somewhere in the room.
I don't know how the remote works, if it's possible to press two buttons at a time to get e.g. an IGR? but I figure the xbox can only understand one button at a time, right? The reason it would be preferable to get an IGR from pressing two buttons at a time would be that you wouldn't accidentally IGR it from pressing one button. But even if that's not possible I'd still prefer the option to have an IGR possibility from one button, because I doubt you happen to press that button so easily anyway.
If I didn't explain it thorough enough, just ask.
Thanks.

no the remote cant do dual keys.
and no you cant map igr to the remote. best you can do is map the xbmc builtin restart/restartapp commands. but if stuff is frozen that wont help you much.

I thought IGR was a software code. If the xbox has frozen, you can't do squat, Not even an IGR with the remote. But a lot times it only gets "stuck" and looks like a freeze, but isn't, as you can still do an IGR. And I was sure IGR was pure software code, I can't really see how it's anything else as I have a softmod(which doesn't really say it should be hardware if it was a modchip either, but still). Or maybe I got you wrong. Any particular reason you can't map an IGR to a single button?

The IGR function is within the xbox BIOS, not within XBMC. Even when you have a softmoded machine, it's still using a modified BIOS. It is functioning before any programs are even running, thats why it even works when playing games.

If you really wanted it you'd have to include it in the exploit your using before compiling it. So I suppose it is possible but you'd have to do it yourself. Even normal IGM has to be programmed into the exploit before compiling, that's why not everyone uses the same buttons for IGM. It can be customized.

Aha, it's completely bios-dependant! I didn't know that. Is it possible to compile a remote controlled action in a bios? Then I'd actually like to do that, but I figure no one's programmed such possibilities in any of the bios editing softwares out there. Do anyone see it possible to compile a bios that way with the software out there, without too much of a hassle?

I really don't know. I've never tried. I think your reaching outside of the XBMC forums area though. It may already be supported. I suggest reading the documentation for the exploit you are using. I wouldn't be suprised if NKPatcher10 could do it but I've honestly never tried. It's been years since I've last compiled it myself.

you could mod your box with the ir-mod.
this peace of hardware works seperatly from every software.
you can:
- turn on / turn off your xbox
- open dvd-rom
(it is even possible to set timings to start your xbox with a chip that needs to trigger the eject button for 3 seconds)
i have one. and for me it is the most important mod in a xbox (if you use it as a mediacenter)

yep. both mods are used with the original m$ rc. (but they work also with universal-remotes...)
but the xerc has some more features.
the "german" version shuts down the xbox by pressing:
stop-stop-stop-stop-select.
i dont know how this works on the xerc.

They both let you internalize the mS reciever and share it between a controller port and the mod?

Anyone know if it's possible that Xerc might make some more of those pcbs? I'd love to buy one!
