Win Install Error
#1
I am new to KODI, so bear with me. I am trying to install Kodi on a windows laptop running Vista. The installation goes fine until I get an error stating "Error opening file for writing:c:\users\larry\appdata\local\temp\vc2013\vcredist_x86.exe"

Any suggestions?

Some things to check:

Does your user account "larry" have local administrator access?

Is your Windows Vista installation at least Service Pack 2? This is the minimum OS requirement for Visual C++ 2013 Redistibutable (vcredist_x86.exe)?

Is your hard drive in good shape and has no errors?

I have checked to be sure that I am on Service Pack 2, I have administrator privlidge, and I did a disk defrag prior to downloading the exe file. Any other suggestions? Also, if I look for the folder Appdata in my directory, it doesn't exist.

Appdata is a hidden folder, so you need to enable 'view hidden files' to see it.

Did you check the hard drive for errors?

Run an elevated command prompt:

How to:

And then type the following:

chkdsk C: /f /r

and press ENTER

If chkdsk asks if you want to schedule the disk check for next restart press Y and then press ENTER.

After that restart your computer.

Note: This process will take at least and hour or more to complete depending on the size of the drive.

Then try installing Kodi again.
