Looking for good apps for ripping dvds for kodi

As the best supported file formats is MP4 container file format with H.264 video codec and AAC audio codec, if your DVD are home-made ones, there are many free DVD Rippers such as Handbrake, Format Factory, VidCoder, MediaCoder, etc. If your DVD are commercial ones with copy or region protection, you can first use Makemkv to freely copy/backup commercial DVD into a large MKV file on your local computer and then use Handbrake to convert MKV to Kodi supported file formats. If you are looking for a standalone application to rip and convert DVD to Kodi, I think Pavtube BDMagic is a good choice, however you will have to pay for that.

Agreed mkv is far superior to mp4 as a container, the only case where mp4 might come in useful is for use on mobile devices with limited storage space as you may want to re-encode to a smaller file size.
