The HD-DVD drive for xbox 360 is connected through usb, and it also supported on a PC... so i figure why not plug it into an xbox with a usb adaptor, and hopefully adding hd-dvd support with XBMC... since youve added HDTV support

First it is usb 2.0 second it doesnt contain anything else then a hd-dvd drive and a drive->usb interface so the PC or Xbox360 does all the decoding of HD-DVD material with their CPU. And the xbox have nowhere near the requierd CPU power to pull something like that off.

a more likely idea would be to swap the Xbox's drive with a IDE HD-DVD drive and with some GPU assisted code, be able to playback the movies on the old box. This is a dream and not likely to ever happen or even be possible (not use the GPU is powerfull enough for 1080p VC1)
