I'd been using a NextPVR backend with the HDHR as the tuners and it's just been buggy & slow. Changing channels is a crap shoot on whether or not it would just sit there buffering or even if it would load the channel at all. I'd not tried TVHeadEnd but can it make that much of a difference in the user experience of NextPVR?
I've never used NextPVR backend so can't compare. I have an older HDHR3-US and isn't supported by the official Kodi add on
