THX fritsch I will try that. There are 2 occasions that ennoy me:

1 When watching a playlist on youtube(youtube plugin using DVDplayer). If you want to jump to the next on list it takes 15s. Using firefox it
takes 5-10s

2 if I playback a local stored video ... why not play after 1s or so (also takes about 15s?

I also changed buffermode ... all that did not realy help for both cases

Code:
<advancedsettings>
   <loglevel hide="false">1</loglevel>
  <cputempcommand>sensors|sed -ne "s/Core 0: \+[-+]\([0-9]\+\).*/\1 C/p"</cputempcommand>

    <disableipv6>true</disableipv6>
        <alwaysforcebuffer>1</alwaysforcebuffer>
    </network>
    <gui>
        <algorithmdirtyregions>3</algorithmdirtyregions>
        <nofliptimeout>0</nofliptimeout>
    </gui>
    <videoscanner>
        <ignoreerrors>true</ignoreerrors>
    </videoscanner>

  </pvr>
<video>

    <refresh>

      <max>24</max>
      <delay>175</delay> <!-- set to zero or adjust if audio seems out of sync with 24p movies -->

</video>

Your 24p mode is wrong, that one will neither work for 24.0 hz nor for 23.976 hz

Many THX for spending your time !!

My unity desktop is set during autostart with "xrandr mode 1920x1080 rate 24" and uses EDID data ...

1 In Kodi I set "use rate from video and sync with screen". So what did I do wrong ?

2 Is this causing that "XErrorHandler: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)" ?

3 How is that connected to the time delay on start

Kodi is set to use HDMI-0
Code:

Nvidia has a bug since ages - it cannot properly do 24.0 hz / 23.976 hz by default, only an xorg.conf will help.

Unity is counterproductive to kodi as it is a compositing manager, which uses compiz that implements a non standard compositing exteions we cannot disable.

For nvidia see: http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Config..._xorg.conf

THX for Link,

1 what is special about those modelines or which option does the trick ?? ... because right now it uses EDID as posted from xrandr above and it has the same modeline for 24Hz in the linked xorg
ModeLine "1920x1080_24" 74.250 1920 2558 2602 2750 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync
Huh or should I just add the 23.976 modeline which is missing in my EDID ?
When I add
ModeLine "1920x1080_23.976" 74.175 1920 2558 2602 2750 1080 1084 1089 1125 +hsync +vsync
X adds it twice:
"1920x1080_23.976" : 1920 x 1080 @ 24.0 Hz (from: X Configuration file ModeLine)
"1920x1080_24" : 1920 x 1080 @ 24.0 Hz (from: X Configuration file ModeLine)

Starting with -rate 23.974 (and up) xrandr uses the same mode (x281) as with rate 24 which is our new 23.976 mode from Xorg (I guess because it has the higher clockf = 74.175.
Rate 23.973 and below use the built in mode x284 from EDID (CAE Mode32) which has 74.16Mhz.

here is the result (added new mode 23.976) kodi.log with 4 videos: 1080p50, p23.9, p25, youtube 720p50 http://paste.ubuntu.com/14671648/

2 When does it make sense to have option settings-video-playback(wiedergabe) "sync to screen" enabled ?

3 What does the option "sync to screen do" when video says 23,976 and EDID/Xrandr only has 24 (my Sony TV and Beamer state 1080p24) ?

4 There are still some ERRORS (e.g. XErrorHandler)

5 The original question regarding 15-18s delay is still about the same.... Huh

Your sony / beamer have 23.976 fps for sure.

See: /usr/lib/kodi/kodi-xrandr | pastebinit output _while_ playing at 24p. Btw. Unity might mess up your display switching, log out of unity and start kodi directly.

Too many questions at once, post one by another - my time slices are really rare these days :-)

Sync Playback to Display: Works with PCM audio, not passthrough, audio is slightly adjusted so that video can render frames matching the vblank of the screen -> "perfect playback". Also works with AC3 Transcode mode, where we can also resample before packing.

The more I appreciate that you take that time for me !!
Most important would be no 4 and 5 from above.

4) quite unity and start kodi sessions direct

Post a Debug Log of that.

Sorry, but I am still new to Linux and have no idea how to do that. I am using this distribution: http://www.vdr-portal.de/board16-video-d...3d37f68bd2

As the main part of the distri is running VDR which is using its own proprieatary GPU (reel HDE), I log into Ubuntu desktop (Unity) and from there I start Kodi with this script right now (maybe the standalone option is wrong ?)
Code:
#!/bin/bash
# force KODI to use ALSA for proper passthrough support
export AE_SINK=ALSA
pasuspender -- kodi --standalone
This is the kodi.log (with added new mode 23.976) with 4 videos: 1080p50, p23.9, p25, youtube 720p50 http://paste.ubuntu.com/14671648/
- Just tried to start kodi from another console session ... "Unable to open GUI". Xrandr -q says ... Cant open display :-(
- As you dont say anything regarding (no5) the delayed video start ... are 15-18s normal then ?
