Android No Skin will install [Solved]
#1
I have an unusual problem on an MXIIIG box, no skin will install. I suspect it's a permission's issue somewhere.

The box is running OpenElec 5.95 and Kodi 15.2. I have tried the Tronsmart firmware 106L1 and 316k and RemiX 115k, all firmware has the same result. The box is rooted.

I can install plug in's from repositories and everything installs fine. I can add sources and scan all media into the box. The process to download a skin starts fine, everything starts downloading, then at the end I get "XXX failed to install". No matter which skin I try to load, always it fails? I have lots of kodi installations and this is the first one where a skin can not be installed.

Searched around the internet, but nothing similar.

Openelec != android.
Better asked on the OE forum or wherever the OE build comes from.

Thanks I will.

I posted here as a start, because the same problem exists no matter which firmware is installed. Android 5.1 exhibits the same problem.

You don't need to ask at OE forums, as those builds aren't supported by OE. I guess your box is an AMlogic thingy..read:

Quote:The OpenELEC project does not provide or support the unofficial AMLogic builds used with some M8, MX2, MXQ, DroidBox (and others) hardware. Although these builds are OpenELEC named the staff in these forums have no knowledge of the OS changes made in these builds or the unique hardware they are used on. As most problems require some level of knowledge of the OS or hardware in use we are rarely able to help. Please use the links below for AMLogic OS updates and support:

AMLogic builds: http://tinyurl.com/amlogic-oe

AMLogic support: http://tinyurl.com/amlogic-issues

Or ask those who are providing the build you use.

If we are talking about kodi on android (NOT OpenELEC!!!) then I guess we'll need a Debug Log at least.

I have solved this issue, although it took a bit of reading and various programs and just some good luck. Here is what I did, hoping it helps someone who might be facing a similar issue.

Erase the entire box using TWRP for your platform (All Caches and Internal memory cleared). The version I used was from this tread:
http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-supp...ic-devices

Re-install the Original MX3G firmware. Tronsmart 106L
Remove the Kodi version contained in the firmware, clean, reboot.
Re-install Kodi (15.2) using the downloaded APK.
Launch into TWRP again from the SD card and "fix permissions." again clear the cache's.
Reboot.

Since I changed firmware so often on this box, the refreshes probably were not erasing everything properly.

Next, will be trying OpenElec from the SD card!
