i'm sure it's easy enough but does anyone know how to find out the specific path needed for a widget. I want to widget a certain part of an addon - I am using Aeon Nox 5 skin

You would need to look in the addon script files to see what url triggers a certain section. For example, The Trailers addon, we see in the script file that it searches for the plugin url + /<source_id>/movies/ (see this line) to show the directoy listing.
So the path to show a list of movies from Apple iTunes (see this line) in a widget would be
