I've got kodi on rasppi (buildroot) but it seems after the splash-screen , the background loads and it just hangs there no "menu" appears, and the the mouse and keyboard seem to be inoperative in kodi. I'm able to login via ssh and I browse the logs for kodi I see no errors... any pointers ?

You only have 64 MB of RAM dedicated to the GPU. You need at least 128 MB.
