Recently I've finished version 0.9 of my XML configuration for EventGhost to control mostly KODI, but also some general actions in Windows and basic media control in VLC (I'm using VLC as external player in KODI). I am using X10 remote controller by Medion, just like this one (I buy one - brand new - for about $7):
You can control keyboard and mouse with the remote.
You can control (obviously) all basic functions of KODI and also all basic functions of VLC.
It could be necessary to remap some event keys to suit your specific X10 remote controller! (I don't know if every X10 remote sends the same key-codes)

Config was made JUST for me and my specific needs, so you may find some functions missing.
Feel free to modify or/and share this file if you are able to tweak some/all controls.
