Hey I just bought a 2 bay synology nas and currently I only bought one 3 TB hardrive for it. Cause that's all I can afford right now. Anyhow I want to set it up as raid 1 when in future I'll be adding another 3 TB to it. Currently I'll be backing up the movies on another 1 TB external till that fills up. Anyway do I setup the synology with SHR?

IMO, don't see a need for SHR if your mirroring

SHR on Synology NAS is very good I have a 2 bay 715 and with SHR you are essentially mirroring but if you upgrade the drives in the future it will automatically expand when both drives have been upgraded without any data loss
